How did it all begin?

The answer goes back to a long time ago..

Based on the stories of my father, Ferenc Puskás, I know that around their family home and farm there were always huge, impressive Komondors guarding the property and agile little Pumis herding the livestock.

1975 – The founding of the Csúnyatelepi kennel

This memory alone was enough for my father to purchase, in 1975, his first pedigree Komondor bitch, Haraszttelepi Cifra, who became the foundation bitch of the CSÚNYATELEPI KENNEL.

The kennel was named after the nearby Csúnya Forest and the lake connected to it.

1993 – The Pumis

At a dog show, where we were exhibiting one of our Komondors, I noticed a constantly bustling, cheeky, curly-coated little black devil… this was the Pumi.

At that time, I did not really know the breed, only from my father’s stories, but I immediately fell in love with it and knew that I wanted a dog like this!

After that, only two months passed before I also became a happy Pumi owner.

The chosen one was Cseresznyéskerti-Csalfa Kacér “Kócos”, a black Pumi bitch from the kennel of the renowned breeder Anikó Gergely.

This was when we laid the foundations of Pumi breeding, now together with my father.

I was not disappointed in the breed’s legendary intelligence, loyalty, unconditional devotion, boldness, and constant desire to work.

We thought: “One Pumi is not enough!”

With the help of Mr. István Menyhárt, owner of the Cseri-Subás Puli–Pumi kennel, Veszprémi-Állatkerti Adorján “Tücsök”, a dark grey Pumi male, joined us — it was love at first sight.

April 1996 – The first litter

In April 1996, the first “A” litter of Pumis was born.

It was beyond doubt that the Pumi puppies would also grow up under the Csúnyatelepi kennel name.

Outstanding representatives of the first litter were:

Csúnyatelepi Angyal CH, Csúnyatelepi Arany CH, Csúnyatelepi Afra CH.

Then came the next and the following generations.

2009 – A new beginning

On November 28, my father passed away suddenly and tragically.

After that, I could rely only on myself, but I continued the work we had started.

Our results, our pride:

From the foundation Pumi breeding pair, several puppies were kept for further breeding, and their descendants have since also produced many successful offspring.

Today, I can say that many Pumis carry the CSÚNYATELEPI name, including numerous Excellent, Class Winners, Best of Breed, Derby Winners, Junior Champions, Hungarian Champions, Grand Champions, Show Champions, International Champions, European Winners, World Winners, Finnish and USA Grand Champions, and even a Westminster Winner – Csúnyatelepi Hetyke!!

Csúnyatelepi Pumis prove themselves not only in conformation, but also in the preservation of ancient traits: herding, as well as agility, frisbee, and puller.

2007 – GOLDEN WREATH MASTER BREEDER title

Breeding goals:

The characteristic features of Csúnyatelepi Pumis are the elegant appearance, lively temperament, strong herding instinct, good structure, typical coat, expressive face and head, and strong bone structure.

My goal is to preserve and further improve the above-mentioned qualities, to maintain the herding instinct, and thus create a unified, recognizable type.

Throughout my breeding work, I have always aimed for quality — breeding individuals that come as close as possible to the breed standard.

Now, without my father, I continue to pursue this goal today, and this will not change in the future.

Using the experience I have gained and the professional knowledge I learned in animal husbandry and dog breeding, I strive to select the most suitable parent pairs for breeding.

It is important that our dogs go to the best possible homes, to loving owners!

Maintaining continuous contact with owners is also essential, as without feedback and exchange of experience there can be no successful breeding work!

It is a special joy for me, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Csúnyatelepi dog owners who present my dogs to the public at dog shows, demonstrations, and competitions.
